Jonathan with a glass of wine

a young dancer from Des Moines, Iowa. As a ballet boy (a rarity in Iowa), he was fascinated with life in the theatre. His biggest joy was always performing in local productions at any chance he could get.

Jonathan attended Iowa State University as a freshman engineer (which lasted a single semester), before changing his studies to a Bachelor of Music with a certificate in Vocal Education. Jonathan was nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his work in musical theatre while at Iowa State. He was also elected president of the Iowa Statesmen men's choir after a rousing campaign speech promising embroidered group polo shirts. In addition to music and theatre, Jonathan supported his Cyclones as the co-captain of the co-ed cheerleading squad, traveling the country courtside and on the field with the athletic department. To end his bachelor's degree, Jonathan taught music in Italy for the children of Rome and international diplomats and ambassadors. After graduation, he was Assistant Director of Vocal Music for three years at a central Iowa high school with a program of 130 students across seven choral ensembles, and directing multiple award-winning Iowa High School Speech Association musical productions.

Yet, the ever-present pull to the stage couldn't be denied, and Jonathan left teaching to receive his Master's in Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at San Diego State University. His studies there reignited a passion for performing the great American art form of musical theatre as well as continued pedagogy in teaching and directing for the stage. While at SDSU, he was involved in the world premiere reading of Mr. Holland's Opus, written and directed by BD Wong. Outside of SDSU, Jonathan performed at the Old Globe Theatre with director Josh Rhodes and the San Diego Symphony with Danny Burstein and Susan Egan. It was here in San Diego that Jonathan found a new, extraordinary version of himself that was always waiting to be released.

Jonathan now resides in his inevitable home of New York City. As an AEA actor, he continues to perform on stage across the country. Jonathan has also found a love for on-camera work with award-winning short films and television.

When not performing, Jonathan’s greatest joy is being in the kitchen cooking good food and serving great drinks. His deepening connection to his northern Italian roots has ignited the ancient love of hosting a party. You will often find Jonathan in his back garden in Harlem under the magnolia tree, sipping a glass of good wine.
